DRAFT Programme

Travel to Stratford-upon-Avon

Delegates can choose whether to fly into Birmingham International or London Heathrow Airport.

There is a rail station at Birmingham International and the journey to Stratford-upon-Avon takes about 1hr 40 mins with a change at either Birmingham New Street or Leamington Spa.

There are two options from Heathrow. Delegates can take the Heathrow Express in to London Paddinton and connect there for Stratford. There are about 5 direct trains a day. This is ideal if you are travelling early and want a break in London before the conference. This journey takes about 2hrs 15mins. The second option is to pick up the Rail-Air link coach from outside your terminal which travels to Reading. A direct train to Stratford can be picked up there. Again there are about 5 trains a day as these are the ones which come from London. This journey takes about 2hrs 50 mins.

There are also direct National Express coaches from Heathrow to Stratford, but only two a day and the timings do not work to get people to the conference in time if you are arriving on the 12th June.

Train information is available at the following web sites: a2btravel, www.thetrainline.com,and www.nationalexpress.co.uk/

If people are travelling together it may be easier to take a cab and share the cost. Two Stratford taxi companies who are willing to take advanced bookings from delegates for pick-ups from both airports are Grafton Taxis, Tel. No. (011) 44 1789 490199 and 005 Direct Line Taxis, Tel. No. (011) 44 1789 414005. One near London for Heathrow pick-ups is 16 - 1 Travel on (011) 44 20 8428 7631 Fax (011) 44 20 8428 5587, email PaulBatham@CompuServe.com . The trip should cost about 100.00 from Heathrow and about 45.00 from Birmingham. If a group arrives together all of these companies do minibuses which will reduce the cost.
